The driver from Como recovers 11 positions at the start and takes the Porsche 911 GT3 of Dinamic Motorsport into the top 10 of the Silver Cup, finishing with a good overall position together with Mauro Calamia and Marius Nakken.
Como (CO) - April 3, 2022 - A good start to the season for Giorgio Roda in the first round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. The driver from Como, in the Porsche 911 GT3 No. 56 of Dinamic Motorsport, together with Mauro Calamia and Marius Nakken, is the protagonist of a fantastic recovery from the start. After starting from 39th position on the grid, the young driver from Como managed, in the first meters of the race, to recover 11 positions, taking the Stuttgart car up to 28th place overall, in the top 10 in the Silver Cup class, a category that counts 18 starters on a grid of 52 cars. Roda, behind the wheel in the first part of the three hours in Imola, proved to be constant, driving smoothly until the driver change in favour of the Swiss Mauro Calamia, able to maintain the pace in a phase marked by several FCYs and Safety Cars. Last third of the race for the young Norwegian Marius Nakken who kept the points placement.
Satisfied with this first endurance round in the continental series, Giorgio Roda declared: “I think I can include the start at Imola among the best ever in my career. We had some tire pressure problems and I started with used tires, but I tried to give everything to make up ground. I didn't even think I could gain 11 positions in such a small space. Closing the first race of the season in the top 10 is a great satisfaction, but above all it is a starting point for continuing to improve. With 52 cars on the track and a very high level, I can only be satisfied with our race. Now we will start working for the start of the Sprint series at Brands Hatch with the conviction that we can do well on that occasion too ".
The first round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup is scheduled for the weekend of 30 April - 1 May at the British circuit of Brands Hatch, while the endurance series will be back on track from 3 to 5 June with the 1000 Km of the Paul Ricard.
